SHEIN Jewelry...Good for Inspo...That's About It

Before I begin to point out how problematic this company is I wanted to take a moment to appreciate some aspects. Even if I don't think it's worthwhile.

SHEIN is extremely good at keeping up with trends as it is a fast fashion retailer. Knowing that I decided to try my luck with purchases I believed to be worthwhile to a casual jewelry spender. Something I am not. Just to clarify it's not that I want to spend all my earnings on jewelry but being in the jewelry circle means knowing what's worth spending on. I didn't purchase any rings because I knew they personally wouldn't be worth spending on even at their very very low price point.
Pros
The price. Just to put it into perspective I didn't spend over $8 on any piece and some came in bundles.
I had no problems finding a variety of styles. Dainty studs, chunky chains, vintage earrings and just about every core style you can think of.
They have different finishes to them. Some polished, some matte and some with a textured glitter finish.
At a safe distance it can be heard to tell that some of these pieces are fast fashion jewelry. They have great pieces to use in a shoot that could pass for gold and silver.
Cons
Returns are not accepted for jewelry so if it comes with a defect (one of mine had a huge black burn spot on one of the chunky hoops) you're screwed.
If you don't read the description and the reviews you can end up spending n something too fragile or with features you couldn't see well in the promo pics.
Quality is not their main focus. They have a bulk stock of mostly plated jewelry and they feature your favorite influencer on any platform to promote their site. It's just business and everyone is aware of it. Selling a piece to you at $2 is low risk and they know if something breaks you are more likely to buy another one than try to fix it. (Not that doing so would be worth it anyway.)
Why I won't be buying from them again...
You'd have to be really out of touch with the current events to ignore what this retailer is doing.
I understand not everyone has $$$ to spend on luxury...and make no mistake jewelry is a luxury. That doesn't make it out of reach and it doesn't mean you have to be in a certain tax bracket to be allowed to purchase it. What it means is you have the chance to make your purchase count.
If you go on Ebay or Etsy you could end up with a genuine Pandora piece for $15 and sometimes less. "Oh but I'd like something new." Most of the time jewelry is made by refining broken and old pieces and selling the cleaned up metal to make new ones so I wouldn't say it's 100% new anyway. My point is there are ways of supporting a local shop, small business or hunting down a good deal that doesn't depend on a fast fashion retailer.
I do have to mention that if you spend enough time on SHEIN and Instagram you will begin to see someone the exact same pieces being sold by Insta boutiques. Do they have the same price? Nope often they will be marked up 3x or 4x! If you're someone who has some very strong values when it comes to fast fashion definitely double check before you purchase an item that is on trend.
Remember check the description, check the reviews and check the return policy!
